This includes assessing the environment, such as whether there are stairs on site, what type of stairs, and how wide they are. We also consider the size and type of items being moved, such as sofas or beds.
Our goal is to ensure that your precious cargo is taken care of. When it comes to unloading at the destination, we always include the one-time placement of carpets and furniture in a room or home designated by you or your representative. If desired, we can also reassemble furniture that was disassembled at the origin. You have a few options when it comes to unpacking: fully unpacking, partially unpacking, or no unpacking. Be sure to let us know your preference before the day of delivery so that we can be prepared. If you choose full or partial unpacking, our delivery team will remove all empty boxes and packaging material from your residence on the day of delivery.
However, we are not required to return and pick up those materials after the delivery day. If you would like us to come back and take away your empty boxes, please let us know in advance so that we can plan accordingly. It is helpful if you can stack everything in one place for quick removal. We recommend that you arrive at your new home before our delivery team so that you can quickly review everything. We also suggest that you have the necessary equipment on hand for moving large items, such as a rolling platform, wheelbarrow, and furniture pads.
If any items are lost or damaged during transit, please indicate this on the loss or damage notification form upon delivery. In the case of a container shipment, excess items will be treated in the same way as other items in the shipment and placed in a container. Moving companies must adhere to government standards when handling your items and take corrective action if necessary. At Sterling Moving Companies, we inventory each set of items and separate them into small shipments that go to each designated location. We also help classify items when an estate is divided among family members and move them to their intended destination. However, there are some tasks related to moving day that moving companies cannot complete for you.
During pickup, please have all pre-packed containers available for our movers to review and repack if necessary. If our company denies a refund or disputes any of your claims, please contact your local transportation office for assistance. When booking help for two hours or more, our service providers will have enough time to charge appliances or furniture, pick you up at your destination, and unload items. Make sure you have a digital copy of your orders handy and be prepared to answer questions about estimated weight, delivery address, and any special items that need to be moved.
